Mobile App Marketing Using Analytics In Corona SDK

Mobile App Marketing Using Analytics In Corona SDK

During yesterday’s Corona Geek Hangout, David Rangel shared that mobile developers often overlook implementing analytics into their apps. Corona developers can use the Analytics API within the Corona SDK to connect with a mobile analytics service like Flurry.

Using Flurry developers can track the number of times their apps were used and how long their apps were used. However, according to David, Corona developers should be tracking more than just user sessions.

Developer should be tracking events within their apps to determine how users are interacting with their apps. For example, it would be a good to know if 80% of your users didn’t make it past the tutorial, or how many times users view the in-app purchase screen. This kind of information can be rolled back into improving the app to hopefully make it a top app in it’s category.

Wow, David really gave out some great tips during this interview. I’ve actually seen some apps that have asked me for my email address when I first start them. I haven’t really thought to do this before but it makes sense.
