Useful camera module

If you’ve been around the Corona forums as much as some “old timers” have, you’ll know the affection we have for Gymbyl Coding’s time-tested Perspective game world camera module. Lightweight, simple to implement, tastes great, and less filling: a perfect recipe for an indispensable utility!

There are some times, however, when you have to think outside the box to obtain a proper solution, and Roaming Gamer has a camera template that is perfect as a base for in-game object tracking.

According to the author, an updated version is available in his EAT Framework which is a handy suite of tools in its own right. Check out the original thread on how you can get a handle on your game’s camera.

ZeroBrane IDE updated

IDEs are, in many cases, considered essential in the success of a development venture. Gone are the days when coders type away in a plain text editor without common conveniences like auto-completion and function libraries.

Corona SDK has been blessed to have quite a few IDE suitors vying for the hands of developers. Recently, ZeroBrane has emerged from the pack, showing robustness of utilization, a relatively low learning curve, and active support from the original developer.

The main base has just been updated, bringing with it some heavyweight features that add to the functionality of an already mature IDE. Click through to the original link to get up to date.

Native sharing and differences between OSes

Social sharing has gotten a lot of attention in recent weeks. The Corona Twitter plugin from Jason Schroeder is definitely useful and functionally rock-solid, but Facebook’s murky procedures and current setup can confuse even the savviest of veterans.

I’ve gathered a couple of threads that discuss the topic in detail. This one includes a useful snippet of sample code to achieve the sharing that eludes some Corona developers. Check out this thread as well, and remember to ask any questions that come to mind!
