Join the Corona community to finish out the year with one last release – join #shipjam, the year-end game jam!

#shipjam is about completing an unfinished project and shipping it before the end of the year. Pick up a project you loved but had to abandon for one reason or another – dust it off, tie up the loose ends and get it out the door! The contest is from now until Dec 31st, and is open to Corona developers of all levels. Apps will be judged on completeness, quality, charm, and how much you got accomplished within the jam.

We’ve got three great judges: Corona’s own Rob Miracle, Corona Geek Charles McKeever and Graham Ranson from Glitch Games and host of GIGJam 48. We have some amazing prizes too: one-year, six-month and three-month Corona Pro subscriptions, two copies of Dr. Brian Burton’s “Mobile App Development with Corona”, a press release and a couple of gift cards are up for grabs.

Check out to shipjam.com to sign up and for more details – hope to see you there!

    Can the app be a free (ad supported) version of a current paid app?

    Nice idea! I expect releasing for iOS is the most difficult thing before the end of the year because of the current review times and the holidays.

      it is, and it’s a little insane. but what game jam is sane 🙂 we arent expecting them all to go live right after the jam, but the idea is for everyone to at least package them and send them off.

    @Mike,
    The rules are on the site, but as I read them, the app must be a ‘new’ app, not a re-release of an existing app.

      Thx for the clarification.

    Count me in.

    One query though. I got an email from Apple the other day saying that iTunes Connect will be down for the holidays, so submitting apps is not possible. I’ve pasted the email for people to read.

    “As a reminder, from Monday, December 22, through Monday, December 29, 2014, iTunes Connect, Application Loader, and iTunes Connect for iOS won’t be available.

    During this time, you won’t be able to submit new apps, app updates, or In-App Purchases. You also won’t be able to access iTunes Connect or make changes to TestFlight Beta Testing. You can schedule an app release or price changes to take place between December 22 and December 29. Just make sure that your changes are scheduled, submitted, and approved by December 18, to ensure your app remains available during this busy period.

    Users who are currently testing or invited to test your pre release apps with TestFlight Beta Testing will not be affected.”

    Can anybody confirm this? If this is the case, does this affect eligibility for the jam?

      yes, a little bit of a monkey wrench. we recommend send it off by the 22nd, or just getting it all wrapped up and ready then sending it in when itunes connect opens back up on the 30th and 31st.

      Dan,

      Yes, that is correct and it does put a small wrinkle in the event, but you can still submit at the end of the year and there is always Android and the Google Play market.

    I’d love to, but I’m afraid my project on the shelf is going to take about a year to finish – if you’re doing this next year, I’m in!!! 😉
