Well, I haven't made much development progress on my new Minecraft app for iOS, but I do have some exciting news to report for the Corona Geek community. New iTunes Podcast This past week I converted the Corona Geek On Air YouTube videos into an audio podcast that could be submitted to iTunes. Apple has since approved the podcast, so I'm happy to report that you can now subscribe to the Corona Geek podcast via iTunes. Recently I got a tweet from Jordan Schuetz, Corona SDK developer and owner of Ninja Pig Studios that said, "You should invite me to one of your interviews :)". Okay gang, mark your calendar for December 1, 2012 because at 2pm Eastern we will be kicking off the first ever Big Corona Meetup on Google+. It's going to be a 6 hour Google+ On Air Hangout devoted entirely to mobile app development using the Corona SDK. Are your apps being affected by the iPhone 5 diagonal swipe glitch? It seems that the iPhone 5 is having some issues with repeat swipe actions. The issue seems to be isolated to iPhone 5 as shown in the video below. I've tried the same test on my old iPhone 4 running iOS 6 and my new iPhone 5 running iOS 6. As shown in the video, the screen just freezes after several repetitive swipes. I don't have a 5th generation iPod, so I haven't been able to test on that device. On Friday I bought an iPad mini from the Apple Store. I've been using it all weekend, so I've created a quick video review to share my thoughts on the device. So far I can say that the iPad mini is an excellent device. It's everything the iPad is without the awkward size and extra weight. During our hangout with David Rangel of Corona Labs, he suggested several things that app developers should be doing to market their mobile apps. One of those suggestions was to create videos that show how your app works so customers can get a sense of what it would be like to use your app. Since video production can be intimidating, I thought it would be a good idea to show how simple it is to edit video clips using YouTube's built in video editor. During yesterday's special event, Apple announced the iPad mini, threw out some impressive iPad sales stats, and mentioned in passing that they have paid out $6.5 billion ( yes with a B ) dollars to app developers. That's pretty incredible considering that back in July they had already paid out $5.5 billion ( the .5 billion accounts for rounding errors, I guess ). That means they paid out another billion dollars to developers in just 2.5 months, give or take a few days. With those kinds of numbers flying around, it's pretty clear that there's plenty of demand for iOS apps...
