From the Forum — Issue #69
Welcome to the latest installment of From the Forum. In this series, guest blogger Alex Jackson highlights outstanding threads from the Corona Forum. The goal is to bring attention to the most captivating, interesting, and thought-provoking discussions taking place in our very own backyard.

1. Get more done without all the basic stuff
If you have been using Corona SDK for long enough, you are familiar with David McCusky. His DMC library has been a focus of a past “From the Forum”, and it’s always worth reminding new Corona developers that they can save a lot of time and headaches by putting his modules into their bag of tricks.
Today, I can do everyone another solid and point folks to his new Corona library, simply titled dmc-corona-ui. It helps with creating buttons and and widgets, background creation and much, much more. Head to the below link to find out more about this library, and don’t forget to say thanks!

2. The satisfying result of a beautiful UI
As someone who has struggled with developing a unified UI scheme for an intuitive app experience, I can say that finding a button style that looks great and lends a sense of style to your apps or game is a huge win. It can sometimes be a long journey, and getting to the end of this particular one feels great.
With that, I present a forum post by horacebury that shows off a really cool effect: He has achieved a button pulse transition that you can apply to your touch functions. It’s very versatile and looks just as cool. Head on down to the original post to check it out!

3. Find a place in the shade
One of the best things about using Corona SDK on a regular basis is seeing the way other users embrace the concept of sharing the wealth. The Corona community is all about allowing other enterprising developers to implement and improve code that has proven useful to us in the past. Paying it forward is the best way to hoard your karma.
Rounding out this “Corona Community Gives Back” special episode of “From the Forum” is a string that every developer should keep their eyes on. Here, other devs are posting the code for their personally developed shaders for the benefit of the rest of us! Check’em out at the link below, and if you have your own to share, don’t be shy!
