Corona Geek and the vision for the Corona community
Many of you have seen some of the Corona Geek shows over the last few months. The videos were put together by Charles McKeever, a Corona developer that saw an opportunity (and need) to encourage conversations in the Corona community, talk about the interesting things that are going on in the Corona ecosystem and discuss mobile computing in general.
We also have been watching the shows (in fact, we’ve participated in several of them!) and we loved the idea and were impressed by Charles’ execution. We’ve thought about doing something like this in the past, but just haven’t had the time to actually do it.
So I am particularly excited to announce that we have brought Charles on board and we are bringing Corona Geek into the Corona Labs fold! We plan to nurture and grow Corona Geek and take it to the next level. Our vision is to further enhance our vibrant developer community – where developers can go to learn about mobile development (not just Corona) and mobile marketing. A place where you can share experiences and connect with the Corona Labs team, Corona Ambassadors and other Corona developers. Think of it as part TV channel, part developer forum and part educational resource – plus whatever great ideas come up along the way. Initially the efforts will be primarily through Google+ Hangouts and video, but Corona Geek will grow to encompass other media as well.
We’ve always prided ourselves on the trust that our developers place on Corona – we are honored this is the platform you choose to build on. We know the best way to make the platform stronger is by providing you with valuable resources. With Corona Geek we will be doubling down on our community efforts and it will be instrumental in making Corona the absolute best platform with which to build beautiful and successful games and apps.
To kick things off, we will be talking about Corona Geek, its vision and upcoming plans in today’s Hangout (Monday, January 7), which will start at 12pm Pacific time. We invite you to join us.
We have also created a Corona Geek forum – we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas on what you would like to see from Corona Geek. We want to foster an ongoing conversation and this is a great time to start. As always, feel free to email us directly. Our emails are charles[AT]coronalabs[dot]com and david[AT]coronalabs[dot]com.
Thanks!
David

Posted at 00:20h, 09 JanuaryThanks J. I agree completely. It’s going to be great for the community because we all have something to share. Even if it’s just one tiny nugget, it’s worth it. You just never know how you’re experiences are going to influence someone else and vice versa.
